Pho Lan Beef Noodle Soup Restaurant Reviews
This is the best Vietnamese restaurant around. I come from Surrey just to eat here. It may not look like all that, but I assure you, it is. Try the iced coffee. The spring rolls are to die for. Get more than one, if you don't you'll regret it.
I have lived in Richmond for 8 years and never checked this restaurant out. I wish I’d visited sooner! I was skeptical with the menu having no Vietnamese transcribed on their menu, but their food is Vietnamese-approved for me. I recommend you trying their Hu tieu seafood flat rice noodle with soup on the side! Big portions and their Jasmine Tea was delicious Dined in on 25/04/27
We order Chicken Pho and Spring roll. The spring roll tastes very good and perfectly fried. The Chicken Pho soup base is nice and light. The portion is very generous. They have small, medium and large size for pho. We order small and it was like a medium for us. The price was very reasonable and they have back parking. Everything is very authentic and will go back again for sure to try out more dishes.
Delicious food at a price that can't be beat! I am a big fan of the vermicelli bowls, particularly the No. 31 order with two veggie spring rolls. Great place to go for comfort food at a cheap price, fast and attentive service, and a cozy atmosphere!
Been coming here for almost 20 years. Cannot reiterate enough just how good their springs rolls are. Impossibly crisp (literally, what is their secret!?). Flavourful filling. Yes they’re slightly greasy, but what else would you expect? Better than the ones I tried in Vietnam which were supposed to be the best in Hanoi. Oh and their pho is great too. Big portions for a fair price. But them spring rolls tho.
Tucked away in Richmond for an impressive 31 years, this family-owned establishment is a true hidden gem—a well-kept secret cherished by those who appreciate authentic Vietnamese cuisine. With its straightforward, no-frills, “old Vietnam” setting that feels frozen in time since the ’80s—evoking scenes reminiscent of The Deer Hunter’s vivid portrayal of Vietnam—the unpretentious atmosphere draws you in, encouraging a pure focus on the culinary experience. Whether you choose to dine in or opt for takeout, the warm and attentive staff only heighten the appeal. Begin your journey with their Deep-Fried Vegetable Spring Rolls—a quintessential Vietnamese delight. Perfectly crisp and packed with vibrant, flavorful fillings, these spring rolls are accompanied by a sweet fish sauce that adds just the right touch of tang. Cut into convenient 3-inch pieces, they’re simply irresistible. Equally noteworthy are the Deep-Fried Wontons: golden, crisp parcels generously filled with shrimp and pork. Each bite offers a delightful balance of texture and flavor—a testament to the kitchen’s expertise. The combo sets are a standout, offering hearty portions of rice or vermicelli paired with grilled short ribs, BBQ chicken, or fragrant lemongrass chicken. The combination of smoky, charred meat and sweet, savory marinade creates a harmony of flavors that’s deeply satisfying. The extensive menu tempts with a wide array of dishes, yet I often find myself gravitating toward the familiar favorites I’ve enjoyed over the years—whether dining in or taking out. This spot is a must-try for any lover of Vietnamese cuisine. Don’t expect a four star ambiance, it’s a humble little restaurant in front of Richmond’s City Hall. But its welcoming, friendly service, and consistently delicious dishes will knock your socks off, a culinary experience you won’t soon forget. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
I’ve heard many good things from friends and read a lot of positive reviews about this place but never been here as it is really out of my way. Give you a sense of how far out of my way it is. This is 16km away from me, my usual spot when wanting to eat Vietnamese food is 3km away. Driving back from Tsawwassen Mills and passing through Richmond, I thought I should give this place a try. Came here for dinner around 6pm. Parked in the back of restaurant, easy enough. Came in from the back and went to the dining area, encountered the hostess and she lead us to an available table. Me and my daughter ordered the Lemongrass chicken on rice dish. Wasn’t a very long wait at all when our food arrived at our table. Looked good, nice size portions of chicken, a generous size portion of rice and some side of veggies. The flavour of the chicken was really good comparing to where I normally go so I said to myself, I would come back to try the pho the next time. The following week I decided to make the trek out here to try the pho. Ordered the extra large size and that is what I got. Wow! Some places you order the large size and they give you the big bowl with lots of soup but the same amount of noodle as a medium and after finishing it you still are hungry, not this place, the extra large is of epic proportions. I found myself having to force myself to finish this, in a good way though. I was very full after eating this. Great portion, great flavour. Staff is very friendly, safety measures are in full practice. I’ve gone back again. Total of 3 times in the past 3 weeks. Don’t mind making the drive when the food taste this good, portions are very generous for what you are paying and the staff is very nice. A lot of businesses are hurting due to Covid and I would like to see this place thrive so I can highly recommend this place like all the other positive reviews before me has. This will be my go to place when I want to eat Vietnamese food from now on.
We’re visiting from out of town (Calgary) and we all wanted a good authentic bowl of soup and this place hit the spot for our family. Portions were generous, food was delicious & service outstanding. Thanks for a great meal, we’ll be back next time in town!
